Awards
I'm not sure what it is about awards, but far too often, they are ordered at the very last minute. Usually the award ceremony is scheduled, and then I get a call. So many times the challenge is not only to capture the nature of the institution, and the meaning of the award, but to get the entire design and fabrication done quickly before the award ceremony.
The process starts with the presentation of a series of sketches. Once the client has chosen a design, a prototype is made. Materials are researched and selected, production is scheduled and the race to complete the project before the award ceremony begins. Haven’t lost a race yet.
